Russell Independent Schools values every minute of instructional time that we have available and with that in mind, each school has adopted “Non-Traditional Instructional Day” Plans.  With winter quickly approaching, we must begin preparation for the implementation of our plans.  These plans will be put into place to combat lost instructional time if inclement weather or other acts force the closure of schools.  School will be considered in session on these days even though the students are not physically present in the buildings.  Because our teachers and administrators value the time they can spend face-to-face with our students, every day that we miss would not necessarily be a non-traditional instructional day.  The non-traditional days will be determined by the Superintendent and will be based on the number of days that we miss during the 2015-2016 school year or other factors.  Parents and students will be notified via Twitter, Facebook, Russell Independent Schools’ website and blog, Remind 101, and OneCall.

The delivery of the assignments (paper/pencil or digital) will be at the discretion of the teacher and will be required to be completed to the specifications as outlined by the teacher.

Thank you for allowing us to be a part of the education of your child and we hope this initiative will be found to be beneficial to students.  Your school and teachers will be in contact with you after the start of the New Year.  Have a safe and happy holiday season.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s principal.
