Russell races by Lady Rams

RACELAND Sophomore post player Aubrey Hill was 10 for 14 from the floor en route to a 20point, seven-rebound performance to lead visiting Russell to a 57-23 victory over Raceland on Thursday night.

Eight other Lady Devils scored as Russell won its 63rd District seeding opener and improved to 3-1 overall.

Russell led 12-3 after one quarter, 30-5 at halftime and 49-14 entering the final period. Raceland shot 1 for 12 from the field in the first half and 7 for 34 (20.6 percent) on the night.

Cameryn Davidson pitched in eight points to lead the Lady Rams (3-3, 0-1 district seeding).

The victory was Russell’s 23rd in a row against 63rd District competition. The Lady Devils last lost to a district opponent on Jan. 19, 2016, a triple-overtime 48-46 Raceland win.

The teams meet again Jan. 7 in Russell.
