Lady Devils rally from rare 1-0 gap

MOREHEAD Russell’s volleyball team dropped a set to a 16th Region team in a bestof- five match for the first time this season, but the Lady Devils bounced back to down Rowan County, 3-1 (2015, 25-13, 25-22, 25-20) on Tuesday.

Grace Satterwhite amassed 15 kills for the Lady Devils (27-3).

Kate Ruggles and Payton Waskey each collected five kills as Russell extended its winning streak to four.

McKenna Barfield accounted for seven blocks. Sadie Hill had three.

“We are happy to get the win versus a good team, but we still need to work on defense, both on the front and back row,” said Russell coach Tiffany Perry.

“We need to crash and move.”

Russell will travel to Ashland on Thursday at 7 p.m. Rowan County (21-12) will host Greenup County on Thursday.
