RUSSELL Russell’s volleyball team hit the quarter-century mark by sweeping Bath County, 3-0 (25-10, 25-8, 25-6), on Thursday at home.

The Lady Devils (25-3) encountered little trouble against the Lady Cats (2-27). Two road matches — at Rowan County on Tuesday and at Ashland on Thursday — remain on the regular-season schedule.

Sadie Hill led Russell in serving with five aces. Kendall Staton contributed two.

Kate Ruggles tallied 11 kills. McKenna Barfield collected four.

“It has been a special year so far and we keepgrowing as a team,” said Russell coach Tiffany Perry. “Tonight, the girls really hit the ball with torque, which is something the coaches have really been emphasizing.”

Bath County hasn’t won since Aug. 28. It will visit Fairview on Monday.
