Lady Devils breeze past Morgan Co.

WEST LIBERTY Russell’s girls opened the high school basketball season with a convincing 80-29 road romp over Morgan County on Monday night.

The Lady Devils built a 20-point lead after one quarter and never looked back.

Madison Darnell scored a game-high 22 points and also played a key defensive role with eight steals.

Russell received solid inside production as Lakie Sanders and freshman Aubrey Hill scored 13 points apiece. Hall pulled down nine rebounds, one more than Sanders.

Rachel Michael and Ashlyn Andre each connected three times from behind the 3-point line for the Lady Devils. Freshman teammate Kaeli Ross finished with 10 points.

Lane Cox scored nine to lead Morgan County.
